BEIJING (Scrap Register): China imported 101,835 tonnes of copper scrap in November, down 58% from a year ago, according to data from China customs.

With an average Cu content of 78.28%, November’s copper scrap imports equated to 79,719 tonnes of copper, slightly up from October but sharply down 44% from November 2018.

For the first 11 months of 2019, 1.22 million tonnes of copper entered China in the form of copper scrap, up 1.25% or 15,000 tonnes from the same period last year thanks to the import rush in the first half of the year before the import restrictions on Category 6 materials came into force in July.
