US Bauxite imports decline in Q3 2019

WASHINGTON (Scrap Register): The United States imported 929,000 tonnes of crude and dried bauxite, declined 10% per cent from Q2 2019 and 5 per cent from the same period last year, according to latest US Geological Survey data.

The volume is slightly more than those in the third quarter of 2018. With this, the US' total bauxite imports in the first three quarters of 2019 stood at 2.7 million tonnes.

Jamaica (75%), Brazil (17%), and Guinea (6%) were the leading sources of crude and dried bauxite imports in the third quarter of 2019. According to the data, Jamaica supplied 696,000 tonnes, while Brazil supplied 157,000 tonnes in Q3 2019.
